Dimensional weight, also called "dim" weight, will soon apply to all shipments. Dimensional weight is used because the space a package takes on an aircraft or truck may cost more to transport than the package's actual weight.
For instance, a box of balloons or wicker baskets may weigh 8 pounds but the dimensional weight could be 30 pounds! You should calculate dimensional weight on every shipment, compare that to its actual weight, and use the greater of the two to determine what the shipping costs should be. International and Domestic dimensional weights are calculated differently. Make sure to select the correct radio button below for Domestic or International shipments.
